Wall tiles: Latest design trends 2019

At Sai Interiors the subject of wall tiles always gets us excited. Largely because there are such a huge range of shapes, colours, sizes and patterns to choose from, which from a design perspective, is the equivalent of being like a kid in a candy shop!

This time of year is when many of the trade shows take place and many companies launch their new ranges. Over the last few years, tiles as a surface material have completely come into their own. They are now the go to material for designers who want to create impact and take a scheme from bland to brilliant!

By far the most popular tile design trend this year and going into 2020 is the patterned tile. There are a huge plethora of patterned tiles is all shapes and sizes, which when added into a design scheme can create more impact than any other surface material. We love to create a feature wall in the shower enclosure area with patterned tiles to really create a focal point.

When we use tiles in a scheme we always get asked by clients whether to go for gloss or matt finish. Simple – matt all the way. A matt finish in all surface finishes including kitchen units and paints is key to create a bang on trend interior scheme. It gives a practical and stylish look to any room.

The other design trend for wall tiles is the way the tiles are laid. We’ve all see the most common subway style or stack bond but moving forward the trend is to lay tiles in an interesting formation to really create impact. So what will be your choice of style – 90 degree herringbone, double basketweave, or 45 degree running bond? Dare to be bold with this trend!
